Awesome 2 Inch Dorypyge swasii Trilobite

Offered is a rare Dorypyge swasii trilobite from the Middle Cambrian Pierson Cove Formation of the Drum Mountains, Millard County, Utah The trilobite measures 2 inches and resides on a 4.5 x 4.5 x 2 inch block of matrix. The black trilobite contrasts beautifully with its gray matrix. All axal spines are original and in place. All pleural spines are original and intact. The last pleural spine on the right hand side of the trilobite has been bitten off and is seen in the process of regenerating. The matrix at Pierson Cove is extremely hard and is collected with sledgehammers. Usually the rock is cracked and if a piece of a trilobite is seen the matrix is joined back together and prepped down to the trilobite. Such is the case with this trilobite. T is restoration on the upper part of the left genal spine and the cephalon above the glabella. Other than that, the trilobite is intact as collected. I will begin bidding at $75.00 with a reasonable reserve. Have fun bidding!!
