Authenticity guaranteed. 83mm x 65mm and 3mm thick The muonionalusta was first found in Kiruna Norrbotten Sweden in 1906. It is a fine octahedrite. Octahedrites -composed primarily of the nickel-iron alloys Taenite and Kamacite- are the most common class of iron meteorites. They represent the core of planetesimals and can be taken as an analogon to the inner core of our planet earth. Due to a long cooling time in the interior of the parent asteroids, these alloys have crystallized into intermixed bands. When polished and acid etched the Widmanstätten patterns of intersecting lines of lamellar Kamacite and Taenite become visible.
