This auction is for a collection of 5 fossil specimens of the Extinct Peccary, Catagonus brachydontus , which were all collected from the Bone Valley Phosphate Mines of Central Florida. This collection includes: 1 Large Upper Tusk measuring 2.75âe long 1 complete Astragalus (anklebone) measuring 1.5âe long 1 partial Tibia (with proximal end that can fit the astragalus!) measuring 5.5âe long 2 mostly complete Metatarsals (foot-bones) measuring around 4âe long each. None of these fossils have had any restoration done and they are composite in nature and not from an associated individual animal. This is really a great collection to display or for comparision from a famous fossil site that is mostly mined out. Fossils from the Bone Valley are highly prized & sought after because of their unique coloration from the different clays & minerals in the sediment and have produced some of the worldâe(tm)s most beautifully preserved Megalodon âeoeGiant Great Whiteâe Shark Teeth ever found .
