This is a rare find! It is an Aztec sword, or Macuahuitl in Nahuatl, the language of that tribe. Recreated in Mahogany with obsidian blades. All of these blades are prismatic/core knapped and are extremely sharp. The over all length is 37 inches and it is 3 wide at widest . The blades are held in place with high strength epoxy in a deeply carved slot. This wood is dense and makes a very good club. Even if every blade were broken to the nub in battle, you'd still have a formidable weapon. The Aztecs used this weapon in a specific way, that is to wound an enemy rather than kill him outright. Aztec warriors were intending to take living prisoners and drag or force the doomed souls up the temple steps to be sacrificed to the Gods. This is a modern tribute piece with artistic license having been used!
