The knife you are currently viewing has an overall length of 9.75" with a 5.25" satin finished O-1 tool steel blade. The blade was hollow ground from 5/32" thick barstock and heat treated to 61-63 Rockwell C hardness. O-1 tool steel is a high performance carbon steel with nearly double the impact resistance of 440C stainless. Higher impact resistance allows me to heat treat the blade to very high hardness levels (higher hardness = better edge retention) without worrying about the blade shattering under heavy use. The blade has been marquenched and double tempered to ensure maximum performance. The handle was crafted from black linen micarta with white vulcanized fiber spacers. Linen micarta is extremely durable and provides a secure grip in any situation, wet or dry. The scales are fastened to the tang with three 1/4" hollow stainless pins. This allows the knife to be lashed to a pole for use as a makeshift spear. The blade features aggressive serrations to quickly cut through rope and small branches. The knife will be sharpened to a razor's edge before shipping. The sheath was hand tooled and hand stitched from 7-8 ounce leather and dyed mahogany.
