Top class impressionistic oil on canvas, depicting a colorful flower still life, made around 1910 by the very well known Dutch painter Johanna Bastiana Sijthoff-van Rijswijk (The Hague 1873 -1956 Laren). She is listed in P. Scheen lexicon an in all major art books. She is considered as a member of a so-called “School of Laren (Larense School)” – an important and highly collectable group of early Dutch impressionist who lived in the Dutch village / art colony of Laren at the end of the 19th and early 20th century. Johanna got some painting classes from her husband Gijsbertus Jan Sijthoff. She lived mainly in Laren and was member of the art group “Laren - Blaricum”, Had several exhibitions in Belgium and Rotterdam. She painted mainly still lives and flowers. The size without the frame is 60 x 50 cm (28 x 24 inches). The frame is also antique from the 1920-20s and it fits perfectly with the painting. It is a luxurious frame – I can imagine that only the frame is above 100$.The painting needs restoration. There is a tear in the canvas middle-right, and also few punches in the canvas here and there. If you see the auction prices of this artist you will see that her paintings are always above 1000$ and can go up to 7-8000$. Because of the painting’s condition, and because of some private situation at my home, I am selling this painting read more
