Images with a solid black background are ones that were photographed on our new black metal background. We now hold the posters in place with magnets (this way, we do not have to attach the poster to the wall in any way). We use different kinds of magnets: small round ones and larger rectangular ones. If an image has a black background, know that the odd circles or rectangles in each corner of the poster are magnets that are holding it in place, and are NOT a defect! An Original Vintage Theater-Used Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") from The Life of Riley, the 1949 Irving Brecher family comedy ("based on the hit radio show"; "You haven't laughed until you've lived... The Life of Riley"; later a hit TV series) starring William Bendix ("as Riley"), James Gleason, Rosemary DeCamp, Bill Goodwin, Beulah Bondi, Meg Randall, John Brown (billed as "'Digger' O'Dell [John Brown]), and Richard Long (likeable TV and movie actor best known for his roles in TV's "The Big Valley" and "Nanny and the Professor") Overall Condition: very good to fine. Note that this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has t been any tape on the front or back of the card. IN THIS SPECIAL INDIVIDUAL LOBBY CARD AUCTION , we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus t are some defects (like tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Tfore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe. We have also noted what, if anything, is on the back the lobby card, and whether it has ANY restoration of any kind, including amateur tape restoration. Lobby Cards measure 11" x 14" and were almost always printed in sets of 8 (some lower budget movies only had a set of 4). Many lobby card sets (usually pre-1970 sets) have a "title card". A title card normally has artwork and the credits from the movie, and is different in appearance from the other seven cards in the set. The artwork is usually the same as that of the artwork on one of the styles of half-sheet. It is very difficult to find complete lobby card sets from pre-1970 movies, as almost all of these were long ago broken up and sold by the individual card.
