This BABY SEAL, is an original Driftwood Sculpture which was created using Chesapeake Bay Driftwood and is designed to hang on the wall. Nature created the shape, especially it's charming face. I only tweaked it enough, so that you too, could see my vision for the piece. By adding a flipper and applying a light wash of white acrylic paint, the BABY SEAL, comes to life. My goal, as an artist, is to create a piece of art using driftwood, while enhancing the natural character and personality of the driftwood. I want the viewer, first, to see that this is an interesting piece of driftwood and then see my vision for it. When I found this piece, the body shape, the eye and the snout reminded me of a Baby Seal. The piece is then finished with coat of polyurethane. The sculpture measures approximately 28" long, 4 1/2" tall and 3" deep and has a hanger for displaying ease. This is a OOAK driftwood sculpture and is signed by me,Margaret Thrift, the artist.
