Up for auction is a bust of Bacchus (Roman Mythology) or Dionysus (Greek Mythology) the god of wine. Santini's highly method of reproducing sculpture, replicates the texture and appearance of hand carved work. Over the years, they have learned how to retain the finest details and characteristics of the original. He is l5 inches tall and 9 inches across his shoulder and set on a round black base and weighs 7 pounds. He is made out of oxolyte which is pulverized marble and resin. The whiteoxolyte material ages gracefully and often attain a lovely warm patina that resembles ivory.I think oxolyte is also known as bonded carrara marble. White marble from Northern Italian quarry of Carrara. Ther is a label on the bottom of the base that says sculptor A. SantiniClassic Figure Made in Italy. The bust is in excellent condition and comes from my smoke free antique gift shoppe.I do my best to give accurate and complete descriptions.
