Circa 1850 lithograph with hand coloring, titled at bottom "NOAH'S ARK", published by the noted American lithographer James Baillie,(Currier & Ives artist).--- Measures 14" by 10". -- Underneath title ---"And they went in unto Noah into the Ark,two and two of all flesh,wherein is the breath of life" ---GenVII, 15.EXCELLENT original condition with no visible damage/imperfections.-- Mounted into it's original period frame and imperfect bubble filled glass.--FREE shipping in the US. ACTUAL shipping outside.>>>>>James S. Baillie began his career in the late 1830's as a picture framer in New York City, and then worked as a colorist for the Currier and Ives firm. By 1843 or 1844 he had struck out on his own, producing a wide range of lithographed images in the style of his former employer. At first glance most of Baillie's product looks like a Currier; only close inspection of the text reveals the print to be by a different publisher. Evidently Baillie also collaborated with two other, Sowle and Shaw, of New Bedford and Boston, in the production of these widely distributed images.
