This is an impressive, quality piece of furniture. The choice of woods and unique, but subtle detailing commands your attention - not to mention the size! The breakfront is made by Baker Furniture Company, a highly respected name. The slight arching of the top and the stepped out front doors break the expanse of the piece. The robust use and unique pattern made with brass wiring on the doors is a great feature and a wonderful compliment. The top cornice moulding is pronounced. Below is dramatic flame mahogany graining framed with inlaid lines of satinwood. The top four doors are framed with additional line inlay. There are a total of 12 adjustable mahogany shelves. It appears that they had pleated fabric behind the brass grill at one time. This can be easily replaced or left as is to more easily view your books or collection. The base steps out slightly and has 4 more blind doors that are recessed paneled. The flame mahogany fronts are again, framed with satinwood line inlay. Behind each door is a shelf. The cabinet comes in 2 pieces for ease in moving. All the doors have their original working locks and a key. The finish is original and in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and patina.
