Lot of 4 documents, dated 1842 & 1843, all from Baltimore, Maryland, and all pertaining to a lawsuit brought by William Wynn & John Wynn, partners trading under the name of William Wynn & Company, against William Gist, for $500 worth of work, labor & materials supplied to Gist, which he refused to pay. Gist lost the case, and the Wynn brothers got a judgement against him, and Gist filed an appeal to be heard by the Appeals Court for the Western Shore of Maryland. Interesting content, with lots of different signatures. Includes: 1) 1+ folio pgs part-printed document, approx. 7-5/8" x 12-1/2" - the actual complaint filed by William & John Wynn, setting forth their case. Signed 3 times by their attorney, William George Baker. On the back is an instruction to the Clerk of the Court, Mr. Kell, to file this document, and to issue a summons, and serve William Gist with the complaint. This document is dated as filed on December 27, 1842. 2) Two part-printed documents, each approx. 7-5/8" x 6-1/4", both from Thomas Kell, Clerk of the Court, commanding the Sheriff to take William Gist, and keep him to appear in court. One is dated Dec. 27, 1842, the other dated Apr. 29, 1843. Great language used.
