Hello. Up for auction is a 1920s Epiphone banjo pot assembly. I bought this banjo in its original tenor form back in the early eighties. It was a bit of a hybrid with the complete nickel plated pot assembly like that on their professional line but with a Rialto neck. It was originally made that way. I just loved the banjo and eventually converted it over to 5 string by making a nice custom Curly Maple 5 string neck in 1984 or 85. I also removed the Paramount type brass hoop & bridges tone ring and fit it with a J.D. Crowe bronze tone ring. The first year that Gold Star came out with J.D. Crowe banjo I convinced them to sell me one of the rings. I took out the Sulivan ring that I had originally fit it with and put in the J.D. Crowe ring. After playing it I never took it out. Its an awesome outstanding ring with a huge mid range, plenty of depth and volume to boot. The finish on the rim is in excellent condition. I played this banjo extensively all of these years and not long ago took it to a retirement home to play for a jam session we had there. After the gig I had it laying in the case with the lid open. One of the old boys took a spill and caught his fall on the top of the neck. Thank God he was OK with no harm to him but the peghead on my neck was shattered. I'm selling whats left of the neck in another auction. Since I'm not read more
