I'm currently listing a large number of playbills representing some of the most memorable Broadway performances of the 1950's and 1960's ......... This is a December 1964 playbill from the Original Broadway production of the JULE STYNE and BOB MERRILL musical comedy hit "FUNNY GIRL" which played the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. (The production opened March 26th, 1964 and ran for 1348 performances.) ..... The musical marked the first starring role for BARBRA STREISAND as "Fanny Brice" and also starred SYDNEY CHAPLIN as "Nick Arnstein". Featured in the cast were KAY MEDFORD, LEE ALLEN, JEAN STAPLETON, ALAN MANSON, JOSEPH MACAULAY, BUZZ MILLER, GEORGE REEDER and ROYCE WALLACE ..... The 74 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors and members of the creative team but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos. The playbill includes a full page ad for BARBRA STREISAND's first three solo LP's on Columbia Records (shown in the third scanned image). Also includes the AL HIRSCHFELD illustration of producer DAVID MERRICK as "Santa Claus", number 10 in the series "Unlikely Casting" .....
