Here is a stunning 1941 – side logo and bottom marked 6 7/8” tall by 8” wide (from the tip of the spout across to the opposite side of the handle) large 18 oz. silver plate coffee pot made for the “The Barclay” Hotel that was located in New York City. This is one of the most attractive pieces of silver plate I have had from this hotel and would be wonderful addition to any Vintage Hotel Silver collection. Historically, The Barclay was built in 1926 and was located in downtown New York City at Park Avenue. The hotel was owned by the New York Central Railroad and was considered one of the most glamorous and elegant hotels in the Park Avenue area. It was located at 111 East 48th Street and was advertised as being “recognized for the charm of its homelike atmosphere and distinguished clientele”. For years, the hotel had changed its name to the InterContential. But today, the hotel has been changed back to its former name and is again now called “The Barclay” hotel. This particular coffee pot would have been used in the hotel’s restaurant, dining rooms, or for room service. It would have been used in connection with The Barclay hotel china and glassware for table service. It is the heavyweight type Steamship, Restaurant, and Railroad silverplate.
