Here we have an adorable Raccoon and Mouse ceramic figurine from Basil Matthews.The piece is in good condition! About 3" L X 1 1/4 wide X 2 High. It’s hand painted details are incredible, just like the rest of his pieces! I have an entirecollection of these, please see my other auctions. I can combine pieces if youlike. Basil Matthews was born in Wales and was a talented self-taught artist.He perfected a new ceramic process. He opened his own studio in the 1940'soriginally starting with horses and then branched out to different animals. Healso received an endorsement from Queen Mary for his art.He was not a mass production artist. He made a limited pieces of no morethan about a hundred. An internationally acclaimed designer and figurineartist, Basil Matthews was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Member of theSociety of Industrial Artists and Designers, and Fellow of the Society ofDesign Craftsmen.
