This is a Basil Plumley / Hal Moore group HAND SIGNED 4 x 6 photograph (We Were Soldiers / Vietnam). The photo is hand signed by both men. Basil L. Plumley is most famous for his actions as a Sergeant-Major of the US Army's 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, at the Battle of Ia Drang (1965). Plumley is a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He made all 4 combat jumps with the 82nd Airborne Division in WWII and one in Korea with the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He was played by Sam Elliott in the film, We Were Soldiers. Harold "Hal" Moore, Jr. is a retired United States Army Lieutenant General. Moore is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross which is the second highest military decoration of the United States Army. He was the Lieutenant Colonel in command of the 1st battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, at the Battle of Ia Drang on November 14-16, 1965, in Vietnam. Today he is the "Honorary Colonel" of the Regiment. Hal Moore is best known for the Battle of Ia Drang, portayed in the 2002 film We Were Soldiers and well-detailed in the 1992 book We Were Soldiers Once... And Young.
