ELEGANT 1800 GEORGE III ENGLISH STERLING SILVER OVAL TRAY; HAND CHASED STYLIZED LEAF AND RIPPLE DECORATION; TURNED SCROLL FEET; UNIQUE CRESCENT MOON COAT OF ARMS; FROM THE LEGENDARY FIRM OF PETER, ANNE AND WILLIAM BATEMAN, THE VERY FIRST YEAR OF THEIR PARTNERSHIP; SHOWN WITH RELATED STERLING WARES, LISTED SHORTLY This is an elegant, meticulously hand crafted English sterling silver oval, footed tray. Date marked 1800. From the Bateman's, considered by most to be British silver crafting "royalty". Shown with handsome 1821 George III sterling coffee pot, and American Georgian form sugar castor, listed next. The tray in oval form. Thick, skillfully banded rim. Softly curved wall to recessed oval centre. Unique band of stylized leaf, upon rippling base decoration. Rich hand chased detail. Bright cut stitch borders throughout. Centre with large leaf framed circular medallion. Most unique crescent moon upon reeded base coat of arms. Supported upon regal turned scroll feet. Tray is 6 3/4 inches long and 5 inches wide, weighs 5 3/4 ounces. Excellent condition. Rich, glowing sterling patina. Mild creased to wall w one foot attached. Not at all distracting, and tray perfectly firm on table. Unusually well struck marks as shown.
