Up for auction is this unusual vintage Baushe & Lomb Optical Co. magnifying loupe / glass / viewer of unknown strength. It is mounted on a wooden handle, which makes me believe it might be a medical instrument. The loupe consists of 2 mounted lenses, a "barrel" into which the lenses are screwed, and a brass "sleeve" which slides over the barrel. The sleeve is made of brass, which is undamaged, other than its cosmetic condition...a patina. Each lens is mounted in a threaded brass "frame", which has a coin edge. One of the lenses is marked with a small circle in its center, which should be seen in the pictures. The circle is something obviously important for its intended purpose. The barrel is marked "B. & L. O. Co.". The assembled loupe, which screws into the handle, is about 3/4" in diameter, and 15/16" long. Overall length - loupe and handle - is about 7 1/8" long. The handle is missing areas of its original black paint. Specks seen on the lenses are lint, plus there are reflections that may look like scratches. M y pictures are always of the actual item(s), so please use them verify what is being offered, as well as condition. Consider the pictures as a vital part of the description. Feel free to ask any questions too - just try not to wait until the last day. Please check my other auctions for a variety of other interesting items. read more
