Species: Fluorite w/ quartz & brochantite
Locality: Blanchard Mine, Bingam, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico Size: 60x35x30 mm, max. XL ~ 13 mm Notes: T are not that many reliable localities for really good blue (not purple) fluorite, Of course, t's Illinois, Yaogangxian and a few other Chinese mines, and little bits from New York, Colorado, and other places, but the true-bluest fluorite producer I know is the great state of New Mexico, and the mines of the Hansonburg District are the hot spots. The Blanchard, Royal Flush, Desert Rose, Mex-Tex and others are great, not just good, mineral localities, and it's the incredible blue fluorites that top the bill. This is a sweet old-collection piece with amazing color, good-sized crystals to 1/2" and some interesting accessory material. I'm pretty sure the green stuff is brochantite, though t are other possibilities. The fluorites have an interesting etched surface (and it takes a pretty serious level of corrosivity to etch fluorite). This material has some color-change tendencies; try looking at it under daylight, fluorescent and incandescent light sources and see what you think. Who: I have been collecting rocks since I was six - eons ago! I also like to play and listen to "rock" music. In real life, I'm an elementary school teacher. I sell what I like: minerals, lapidary material, and occasional fossils. I try to avoid hype, reserve prices, inflated value "estimates" and useless, slow-loading graphics. Instead, I offer quality material, reasonable minimum bids, accurate identification and reliable locality information... and everything spelled correctly! THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY LISTINGS.
