Hi. You are bidding on a beautiful, beautiful collar made by the Iroquois Indians at the turn of the last century. The beadwork is going to be some of the most stunning examples of this artform that you will find. The collar size is about 25 inches across including fringe. The length of the black velvet fabric is a little over five inches. The beadwork is in excellent condition. Here is what i know about this piece. According to the people I bought it from years ago, they thought it was part of an Iroquois chief's costume or outfit. Since I have the belt as well, that makes sense. But then I do not know if the buttery soft leather fringe is original. It looks like it has been added later with a sewing machine. The collar beadwork is perfect. It is SO sturdy. The black velvet has some cuts on it on the upper part where it looks like it was taken off of some other piece of fabric by hand. Someone out there who collects Iroquois beadwork is going to fall in love with the beauty of this unusual souvenir of American Indian history. Thank you.
