Up For Auction: BEAM'S CIRCUS WAGON BOTTLE Sealed Bottle Purchased in 1989 (I have the original receipt) Just before the start of the twentieth century, nothing else caused heads to turn faster or was able to bring smiles on the faces of children better, than the Circus Parade! The long, colorful process of gaily-painted, ornately decorated Circus Wagons winding its way from the train yard to the "Big Top" was a sight which made hearts stop, spirits soar and the imagination sky-rocket. Undoubtedly, a parade of Circus Wagons was Act One in the "Greatest Show on Earth." The Circus Wagon, better than any other remnant, embodies the spectacle of the circus during the 1890's. Each Circus Wagon was carefully designed, carved, and lavishly decorated to create the feeling of glamour, excitement and showmanship. Indeed, each wagon was a running tribute to the combined skills of the wood-carver and painter who worked on it. This Beam bottle created of genuine Regal China porcelain illustrates the ultimate art of late nineteenth century Circus Wagons. Its bright colors, intricate carvings and grand presence represent the finest example of the Circus Wagons which are considered today rare and precious museum pieces. My Mother and Father were Professional Clowns in Central Florida, working out of New Smyrna Beach in their retirement years..As you can see by the photograph, they looked pretty good as "Flip & Flop"! This Circus Wagon is from my Mother's Clown Collection, that she acquired over the years. She recently passed away, and my Dad just couldn't keep them around. I kept a couple that mean something to me, but I really don't have the place to display such a large collection w it would be appreciated. I am going to borrow some words from another Clown that I thought were most appropriate: "People don't understand why we collect them. Only we understand why they hold such a special place in our hearts." (A special thanks to that clown for those words!) Just as we had to let go of our Mother, we really regret letting go of all her "Old Friends", but that time has come. This piece is in good condition, (it has some spots w the gold has been slightly rubbed off) as she displayed it in a glass case in her living room.
