Up for auction is a simply carved, contemporary styled BEAR fetish by Zuni Pueblo artisan Michael Mahooty . This stylish fellow measures about 2 inches long and stands almost 2&1/4 inches high at the medicine bundle. It is carved from a very nice piece of sodalite. The tiny eyes are inlaid turquoise. The medicine bundle has a shell arrowhead, two each turquoise and coral beads, and what appears to be a small malachite stone. This is a Native American hand-carved item and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico. The artist has etched his initials, "MM," on the bottom. In Zuni Indian tradition, each animal is believed to have innt powers or qualities that may aid the owner of a fetish carved in the image of that animal. The bear represents strength and introspection on the spiritual journey through life. Condition: NEW. Buy up to 4 fetishes and they all ship to the same address for one shipping charge!!
