Up for auction is a BEAR fetish carving with a fish in its mouth by Zuni Pueblo artisan Andres Quam. The bear is carved from serpentine and the fish appears to be turquoise. He stands just under an inch tall and almost 2 inches long. The eyes, are inlaid turquoise . The carver's initials 'AQ' are on the bottom of the two front feet. This is a Native American hand-carved miniature sculpture and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico. In Zuni tradition, each animal isbelieved to have innt powers or qualities that may aid the owner of a fetish carved in the image of that animal. The bear represents strength and introspection on the spiritual journey through life. Great gift idea!
