The Beast with Five Fingers (Warner Brothers, 1946). Italian Poster (39.5 X 55 ). Directed by Robert Florey (who also directed Murders in the Rue Morgue ), this film stars Peter Lorre who plays a personal secretary to a famous concert pianist. When the pianist dies he excludes Lorre from the will. Enraged, he cuts off a hand from the corpse, as part of his revenge. The hand inherits a life of it s own and relentlessly stalks the terrified Lorre, who flees in vain. The fantastic special effects of the film kept the audience on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next appearance of the gruesome walking hand. This beautiful Martinati artwork is the best poster done for this film. There is light fold line wear with a touch more at the fold line intersections, one longer tear at the upper left, small border chips and tears, and corner pinholes. The poster has been professionally restored, rendering these defects hard to detect. Very Fine+ on Linen.
