YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 36 CARD LOT OF 1964 TOPPS BEATLES A HARD DAY'S NIGHT TRADING CARDS. HISTORY: This set, which consists of 55 cards, was Topps Chewing Gum Company's fifth Beatles issue. The first three sets were three series that made up the original 165 card set, immediately followed by the 64 card Color Set. Topps, capitalizing on the success of the Beatles first movie, issued this sepia toned set in the late summer-early fall of 1964. Most of the photos in this set were taken during A Hard Day's Night's six-week filming schedule in the Spring of 1964. Only about a dozen or so of the cards are of actual footage from the movie, the rest are off-camera shots. The backs of the cards include a cartoon graphic of a movie camera and a short description of the photo on the front. GRADING: I have attempted to present the cards in a manner that will be most representative of their actual condition. I promise you will not be met with any negative surprises upon receipt of this nostalgic lot. I am very conservative in my grading practices. Many other card sellers do not downgrade a card for centering. In my opinion the centering of a card is just as important as wear and other imperfections. Many of the cards I have rated as EXCELLENT would be rated higher by many others. All cards are visible in the five included scans. Any flaw not visible in a scan will be noted in the accompanying text. Please judge for yourselves. THE CARDS: These cards have been stored in a smoke free, dust free environment for nearly 40 years!! T are no duplicates in this lot! All of the cards can be seen in photo #1. All of the backs are clean (unless noted) and centered in general as the fronts of the cards. Listed below are the card numbers and the condition of each card. Cards in EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT condition--8, 14, & 49 All of these cards have strong corners and centering no worse than 75/25. Card #8 is closer to Near Mint and Card #14 is downgraded from Near Mint due to 75/25 top/bottom centering. These cards are visible as the upper three cards in pic/scan #2, in numeric order. Cards in EXCELLENT PLUS condition--2, 9, 12, 17, 27, 29, 35, 43 & 47 These cards exhibit no flaws other than very slightly rounded corners and centering no worse than 80/20 except #17 which is centered 90/10. These cards are visible as the bottom six cards in pic/scan #2 and the top three cards in pic/scan #3, in numeric order. Cards in EXCELLENT condition--15, 16, 20, 21, 25, 26, 31, 34, 36, 41, 50, & 51 These cards exhibit no flaws other than slightly rounded corners and less than perfect centering, no worse than 90/10. Card #36 which has a slight stain on the back. Also, the backs of cards #21 & #26 are slightly darker than the rest of the cards. These cards are visible as the bottom six cards in pic/scan #3, and the first six cards in pic/scan #4, in numeric order. Card in VERY GOOD PLUS condition--4, 30, 32, & 37 These four cards have strong corners and would most likely be rated EX+ except for the following: Card #4 (George side view) has a very slight ½' long crease in the lower left hand corner. Card #30 (Beatles with girls) has slight lower left hand corner damage, no creases. Note: The young lady behind George in this shot is his (and later Eric Clapton's) future wife, Patti Boyd. Card #32 (Ringo surprised) has a very slight ¼" long crease in the lower left hand corner. Card #37 (Paul in bowler) has slight ½' long crease on the right hand side. These cards are visible as the bottom three cards in pic/scan #4 and the first card in pic/scan #5. Cards in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition--1, 19, 39, 42, 44, 46, 48, & 52 Four are in VERY GOOD condition and Four are in GOOD condition. These cards have moderately rounded corners and multiple light creases. Cards #19 and #52 each have moderate creases. T are no heavy creases, rips, tears, pencil-ink marks or missing surface on any of the ...
