SUPERB THIRD STATE BEATLES BUTCHER (Yesterday and Today) MONO LP (T-2553) WEST COAST JACKET COMPLETE WITH Orange Capitol '66 inner sleeve (LA manufactured) and west coast disc. (See notes below for definition of third state). What we are offering is a superb GUARANTEED ORIGINAL example of a very successful peeled Beatles butcher jacket. The peel was professionally done by Jim Hanson of Blue Jay Way Galleries. This jacket is NOT A REPRODUCTION. It is an original June 1966 jacket that has been brilliantly peeled to reveal the actual butcher jacket underneath. This jacket has a "6" on the back indicating that it is a west coast manufactured jacket. Jacketgrades (VG++) Before we get into specifics, we can assure you that the jacket looks terrific and is one of the nicer ones we've seen. The front of the textured jacket is gorgeous with hardly any indications of glue residue. T are just the slightest trace amounts of glue that one can only see under very strong light. T is no loss at all of anything on the front slick. It is one of the finest peels you are likely to see. The rear of the jacket is quite clean with just a hand signature in pen of the original owner. T are some light tanning, light ringwear and just the slightest hint of a ripple (from the peeling process). The spine is excellent with all printing still completely legible. T is just the slightest hint of rubbing wear towards the bottom of the spine. The top seam is perfect. The bottom seam has a 1/2" split at the mouth. The bottom seam is otherwise clean with just some slight rubbing wear. All corners are super pointed and sharp. The jacket sits almost completely flat. T is some slight warping that can be seen at the mouth (this is also very common as a result of the peeling process) This is one of the nicer mono third state butcher jackets we've seen. Labels grade (NM-/NM-) Clean west coast labels with NO writing or marks. Vinyl (VG/VG) Disc looks moderately played but NOT abused. Disc has NO deep scratches or scuffs and is NOT warped. Dead wax: Side 1: T-1-2553-F-19 Dead wax: Side 2: T-2-2553-F-23 Notes: Thefamous Beatles butcher jacket was, immediately upon distribution back in June 1966, recalled with all original jackets either being destroyed or pasted over with a subsequent less offensive jacket. These pasteover jackets are also referred to as second state butcher jackets (first state refers to an original jacket that has never had a pasteover slick pasted on over it). In years since the release of this LP, people have attempted with varying degrees of success to peel off the pasteover to reveal the actual butcher jacket.
