BEAUTIFUL 1840S FLOW BLUE TRANSFER PLATE VERY RARE #454 5 Day Auction--This is a superb looking 1840's Flow Blue transfer plate that we have just purchased from the estate of an elderly couple who collected superb antique china and porcelain throughout the whole of their lives. This plate measures just shy of 8 1/4" in diameter at the irregularly scalloped edge. This plate is a beautiful light blue transfer plate with dark brown, almost black, center images of a Roman type figure sitting on a marble platform with a magnificent series of buildings in the background. T are 3 vignettes of 3 Oriental buildings. Between each of these are gorgeous flowers. The plate is well marked with an urn and the mark includes the pattern that is Washington? On the back of this plate, the lady put two small stickers years ago. One has "extremely rare" and the other seems to be a catalog type of sticker for her records. This plate is in excellent condition. T are no cracks, chips, or repairs.
