Matchlessantiques offers collectors and smiths this beautiful 94 lb. Hay Budden that is in excellent condition. This is a very nice anvil. The edges are clean and the face is perfectly flat with some light pitting. This Hay Budden has a good trademark and serial number. This anvil has a good hard face with an excellent rebound. Please take a close look at the pictures. Made in Brooklyn, New York, this Hay Budden has been used but not abused. The anvil has an inspectors mark, the number "1" under the horn. The weight mark "94" is under the name. The anvil's serial number is 134588 and according to Richard Postman's book "Anvils in America" this Solid Wrought Iron anvil was forged in 1907. It is the first style anvil they made and is considered the most attractive style produced. It has a shorter waist and doesn't look as top heavy as later styles. This anvil was made from the best American Wrought Iron and faced with the best Crucible Cast Steel plate. Postman's book also states that Hay Buddens were considered the best American made anvil. Hay Budden claims they used the best material available and were produced by the finest American craftsmen. It is still considered the Rolls Royce of blacksmith anvils and is one of the most sought after anvils today. This anvil would make any blacksmith's day. It has a fantastic rebound you would expect from a Solid Wrought Iron anvil. In addition, this anvil has a real nice ring. It's a really fantastic looking anvil and will be an excellent addition to any collection. Measurements are: overall length 22 1/2", face 3 5/8" x 13 1/4", horn 9 1/4", hardie 7/8", pritchel hole 9/16", height 9 1/2", base 8" x 9", weight 94 lbs. This would make a great display piece for any blacksmiths or collectors house. Don't let this one get away, you won't be sorry or your money back no questions asked.
