This is a beautifully made and highly accurate facetor. It wasmade right in the USA. The head and mast were used by theGIA in their educational department when they taught faceting. It is a finely crafted machine that is wonderful to look at, and a delight to use. All the parts have been machined to precise tolerances from solid aluminum and steel billets. The index head runs in a high precision ball bearing and shaft assembly. It features a built in Radial-index-splitter and a micro-adjustable dial indicator that is accurate to less than .001. Even the index plates were turned on a lathe from solid billet stock. The head rides up and down on a solid tool steel column, and has a quick adjust feature as well as a fine tune adjustment. This entire assembly slides back and forth towards the cutting lap on a machined and anodized aluminum track-and-lock system. The lap and faceting assemblies are fastened securely to a thick machined aluminum mounting plate which is held by a sturdy wood-grain cabinet.
The original owner purchased this fine machine new in 1993, and used it long enough to realize that he need a left handed version. I bought it from him in Sept. of the same year. Since then I have cut maybe 10 stones on it. Other than that it has sat in my shop unused. My life has gone to new directions, and I don't have the time to devote to cutting to justify holding on to this facetor, as much as I would like to. It feels and operates like a new machine. It has a 110 volt motor drive with infinitily variable speed and forward and reverse. Machine has a belt and pulley drive. Machine comes with; Cutting Laps, used , 8 " 100 grit 260 grit 260/1200 grit 600 grit 3000 grit Lead-tin lap scored, charged with tin-oxide Copper lap charged with 14,000 diamond recaps also 8 " brand new 600 and 1200 grit 6 " master lap and ultra laps (approx a dozen) Set of brass dops as pictured Machined aluminum transfer jig Right angle apaptor for polishing table facets Adjustable Moffat Lamp Adjustable drip system for water. Acrylic lap stand T are a couple of things which have to be replaced due to age and circumstance The drive belts are stiff and want to pop out of the pulleys when going in reverse only. The drain hose pulled free from the rubber lap basin, got lost and will have to be replaced T used to be a collet in the front of the quill to secure the dop that got lost. I always used the machine without the collet using only the set-screw to secure the dop and never had a problem. This is a fine machine that cost much more than the $ 1,000.00 starting bid new. I will package and pad this machine securely at no additional charge. The box will be approx 24 x 24 x 18 and weigh approx. 75 lbs. I will ship by carrier of your choice. All shipping and insurance (required) are responsibility of buyer. Please e-mail me with any questions. Thanks, and good luck bidding
