This is an absolutely incredible old solid pine cabinet which was made in 1872 for an early home in northeast Kansas. As the story goes, the house was actually built around this beautiful piece. The base measures 20" deep and 36 1/2" high, and the cabinet as a whole is 69" wide with a total height of 8' 2". The counter area is covered in zinc, as was the custom in those days. The interior is painted white, for ease of cleaning I would think, and the exterior still has its original finish. The entire cabinet is made of beautiful 3/4" thick(!) yellow pine, which is a much harder and more finely figured wood than the pine used today (and isn't really "yellow"). Most of the original hardware is present, though the pulls for the four drawers are missing. We had to photograph this on its side, hence the vertical porch railing. This beautiful vintage cupboard would provide plentiful storage space and look absolutely wonderful in an old farm-house kitchen or dining room... . Questions are welcome! This piece is for local pick-up only, unless the buyer wishes to arrange for transport. We are located 17 miles south of Lawrence, KS and 40 miles west of Kansas City.
