This is a beautiful, naturally finished, antique hand-crafted Shaker rocking chair from New Hampshire. It is circa 1800-1890. It is a hand made from Maple wood. The seat is strong and in good condition. The height is 36 inches tall, seat is 19 inches wide, and 14 inches from the floor when at rest. The Shakers were a religious sect that came to North America during the Revolutionary war. They lived a rural and self-sustaining life-style and are well-known for the simple and functional furniture they designed and it's austere beauty. Shaker chairs, like the one featured , have a ladder-back and woven seats. A lovely addition to any room or for collectors! Local Indianapolis pick-up preferred but shipping FedEx ground is possible. Winning bidder must pay all shipping expenses and include insurance.
