The photos cannot really do justice to this stunning antique master salt. Solid silver not hollow , but cast and full of detail. This Figural salt has a pretty mermaid supporting a large clam or scallop shell. She is in excellent order with no faults I can find. Made in Germany , her base is stamped to the corner of one foot with K W for the maker and 930 for the silver standard used , the German equivalent of sterling silver - 930 parts per thousand. I have not cleaned her as some collectors prefer to leave untouched or do their own cleaning to the level they like ( up to individual preference ) - she is tarnished and I have only cleaned the foot w the hall mark is and the area on the shell which is also marked with letters and to hard to see symbols. Her age is probably late Victorian Art Nouveau Style , but I cannot tell for certain as I am not an expert in this area. The maker is a subject for those interested to research - German buyers may wish to take this home as a fine example of German silversmithing ? Ask any questions.
