Gorgeous Edison Triumph A cylinder phonograph (early square-cornered version) with an original brass and black witch's hat horn of the same era. This robust, regal phonograph was the successor to Edison's "Spring Motor" machine and in 1903 was probably the best cylinder phonograph that you could purchase from any manufacturer anyw in the world. Approximately twice the size and weight of an Edison Standard, it sold for $50 when new (more than $1100 when adjusted for inflation today.)
As you can see in the photographs, this machine is excellent in all respects. The original gold bedplate stenciling, which is typically gone from most A version Triumphs, is still largely intact and beautifully rendered. The gold Edison signature on vertical face of the casting is still intact and prominent. The bedplate is still deep black and glossy, and the nickel plated parts are still in great condition, with some minor tarnish and t, but nothing distracting. The cabinet and lid were professionally refinished several years ago, and they are lovely -- free of cracks, splits, rot or other damage. The motor, gearing and governor assembly are well-lubricated, and the machine runs very quietly and is able to play several cylinders at a time without the need for rewinding. The brass and black witch's hat horn is original throughout, with its original paint, and it is in excellent condition too, with no dents, cracks or other damage. "PAT APLD FOR" is stamped just above seam. The original shaver assembly is still in place and complete, and the original "C" reproducer is in outstanding condition, with excellent tone, clarity and volume. As noted above, this machine is very large and very heavy, and tfore it will need to be shipped in two separate packages, with special reinforcement required to ensure its safe arrival. Overseas bidders are welcome, of course, but they'll need to contact me in advance for bid clearance, as I need to make sure that I can export oversized packages to their specific country.
