Newcomb College (New Orleans, LA) Art Glass Vase, made by a student in 1986. Vase is 7 1/8 inches tall, and 10 1/2 inches in circumference at the widest point (upper third area of vase). Colors include all the hues of a peacock's feather. The base color is cobalt blue, with the glaze including blue, turquoise, red violet, goldish green, emerald green, and purple. The pattern of the glaze as well as the shape of the vase reminds me of an art noveau piece. The vase is signed on the bottom with three groups of initials: MSH, ASH,Vines, and the year 86. T are no chips or cracks. T are a couple of tiny bubble marks. This is a very nice, and elegant piece. Please email me if you have questions, or need more info. Hi, I have received two email messages about this vase. Perhaps they are correct. The info. I provided about the vase was given to me by the owner of the vase. Perhaps she doesn't remember correctly w she purchased it from...it was over 20 years ago. Please read new info. below. Thanks, Stephanie Hi, Don't know w you got the info about a student at Newcomb college but it is nonsense. This was made by Rodger Vines, a glass artist from Oregon. MSH ASH, stands for Mount Saint Helens ash, in other words, this was made from the ashes from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens on the west coast in 1986. is his website /pages/About.html
