WELCOME TO MY ROSES AUCTION. Fall is in California and we're having the the end of the Rose season as the bloom times wind down. My favorite flower will be producing their last blooms as they head for their much needed rest in Winter. I always have a sense of sorrow seeing this time of year; much as I love this time of year - it's always sad to see my lovely Roses reducing their growth and their flowering. Roses are the most popular subject for Turn of the Century China Painters - hands down. Please see my auction for gorgeous and fine antique porcelain - all filled with lovely, delightful Roses. This is gorgeous Mirror & Brush set that is attributed to the Limoges factories. The Limoges Guerin factory producted alot of these kinds mirrors which can be referenced in Debbie Dubay's Antique Limoges at Home and Living With Limoges. Another reference is Mary Gaston's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain 3rd Series, page 141 .. Both Mirror & Brush have porcelain backs that have a lovely & delicate transfer painting of sprays of Pink Wild Roses. The handles are extremely ornate and very beautiufl. The raised designs on the handles have curlicues, Roses & Leaves on an ormalu finish. The Mirror has beveled glass that is in excellent condition. Likewise, the bristles on the Brush look to be in fine and very clean condition. This is a gorgeous set that is very hard to find - especially with both pieces still in such good condition. The Mirror measures 9 1/2" lond and 5 1/4" across the porcelain back. The Brush measures almost 9" in length and 2 3/4" across the back. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. For a set this old, they are in wonderful shape. T is minor fading to some areas of the transfer, but it is not distracting. Attributed to the Limoges Guerin factories; early 1900's. PLEASE WAIT TO HEAR FROM ME AFTER THE AUCTION - THE SHIPPING WEIGHT IS JUST AN ESTIMATE. PLEASE EXCUSE THE GLARE FROM THE LIGHTING.
