This beautiful and classy vase is the Grace Kelly of Nippon coralene vases. The delicate blue background is the perfect foil for the graceful flowing wisteria. Top and bottom are rich with cobalt with gold. T are two small gold handles. And the big surprise is on the bottom w a large portion of an original paper tag remains. "A. A. Vantine..." The Vantine story: A.A. Vantine & Co .Vantine's, the Oriental Store . New York: J.F. O'Neill for A. A. Vantine & Co., 1917. The company's advertising copy sounds very much like that of the upscale mail order firms of today, stating that the book "enables you to rest comfortably at home in your easy chair, and, at your leisure, select by mail, with absolute confidence, from the largest collection of Oriental goods in America." Offerings include not only toys, but clothing, perfumes, jewelry, and pottery. T are no nicks, chips, cracks or hairlines and to my eye, with the exception of two teeny dots, the coralene looks perfect. If you have any questions, please let me know.
