I can honestly state that many galleries have purchased from us over the years to only resell these wonderful rarities for 5-10x's what they originally paid. Don't let this wonderful OLD Arapaho Teton Sioux Plains doll pass you by, our reserve is very modest. This auction is for a beautifully created FULLY beaded native American Plains Indian medicine bag, pouch. The motif could be from any one of the regional Plains Indian tribes mentioned above. The previous owner purchased this in Sioux territory in South Dakota over 50 years ago, used. The central motif 'iconographically decipd' (photo #7) is UTE representing the north, south, east & west, created for someone about ready to go on a journey. This bag is created from buckskin with tiny seed beads embellishing the entire bag both front & back, created from hundreds & hundreds of tiny glass seed beads. On the interior you can see the parallel lines of the lazy-stitch beadwork, a characteristic of the Sioux, Cheyenne, Arapaho, and the Ute Indians of the Plateau region. Measures 5 1/4" long x 3 3/8" with no bead loss . Leather is still soft, exhibits some weight due to all the glass beads. Simply beautiful!
