This is one of my favorite pieces from my collection and I hate to part with it, but I do need to sell some of my things. This is a very nice sized vaseline glass jewelry casket or box. It is yellow vaseline glass and the piece glows brightly under black light. The photos were taken outside, so the item appears more on the greenish side. It has a hand painted floral decor on the lid and all 4 sides have a string of little orange colored dots. It is trimmed in silver and has 4 small silver ball feet and knob for opening. The glass is very thick and the box does have some weight to it. The piece stands 4 1/2" tall x 5 1/4" wide and slightly over 3 1/4" deep. The base is stamped "Meriden Silverplate Co. Quadruple Plate".The hinge on the back has a nice design to it. The painted design is intact with no loss. T are no cracks, chips or other damage to the piece. It has a silk lining that has no tears or stains. I guess you would call this a cased glass piece, but you can clearly see the thick clear vaseline glass that surronds it. I have included many photos and in different light situations, so you can see how nice this piece is. I don't know the age of the piece or who made it or w it was made. My guess is that it is European. I believe you would be very happy to add this piece to your collection. I accept Paypal, checks or money orders.
