Beautiful, Very Old SILVER & MOP Hand-Painted COMPACT

Description :
This is a beautiful and very unusual silver powder compact or powder pot. I suspect it is very old and probably silver, but I find no maker's marks. It is wonderfully designed and has gorgeous mother of pearl on the lid with a stunning hand-painted scene over it.
The piece measures 2 1/2" across and is almost 3/4" high. The lid is in gleaming decorated silver with a raised central piece in glowing mother of pearl. Painted over it are two men on horseback with wonderful rich enameling in deep wine, blue and orange with a background of green and rust. Condition of the silver and the MOP is excellent, with no dents or dings. The sides have a lovely etched floral motif and the back is smooth silver with no dents or dings, though t's evidence of some tape that had at one time been present. The lid lifts off.
Inside, the deeply recessed mirror is bright and clear, with just a few faint spots. The deep powder well is extremely bright silver. The sifter and satin-topped puff are probably not original to the piece, but are both vintage, with the puff being unused. The sifter has a metal frame and is edged in ivory satin.
