Utamaro (1750 - 1806) Japanese Woodblock reprint Beauty and an Insect Cage 1930's from Robert O. Muller collection Comments- A wonderful Utamaro print of a young beauty holding an insect cage used to hold fireflies captive in the summertime. Beautiful print with lovely color and detail. A very rare piece to find in a reprint and an excellent Utamaro subject. The silver hair ornaments treated with a wonderful shimmering mica detail. The white flowers in the insect cage stenciled on the surface in white pigment - a sign of a high quality reprinting. A fantastic Utamaro design and great choice for a collector.
