This collection of six fine art lithographs was available exclusively through the Disney – MGM Animation Art Gallery at DisneyWorld in Orlando in 1996. Each litho has an overall size of 11” x 14” with the image measuring 6.5” x 9” so some of the white outside border is cropped out of the pictures in the listing here. The lithos are in brand new, never-been-displayed, condition. The set comes in the original Disney folder sleeve, the cover of which is the last picture in the listing here. The back cover, which is not pictured, features smaller images of all six lithos and the following background info: A “tale as old as time,” the classical legend of a beautiful young girl imprisoned by an enchanted beast has been told again and again, around the world and across the years. Beauty and the Beast was only the fifth time that Disney had animated a classic fairy tale as a feature-length film (the others were Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid). Beauty and the Beast was the first animated feature ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture (a category in which it won the Golden Globe Award). Both Oscars and Golden Globes were won by Beauty and the Beast for Best Song (“Beauty and the Beast”) and Best Score (Alan Menken).
