This is the hard to find Beckley USA by Harlow Warren. It's hardback, 322 pages, and states inside that only 2,250 copies were published. The author gatd photos from area residents to compile this as a pictorial history back in 1955 when such efforts were unusual. He was able to publish an amzing quantity of Beckley photographs from the 1890's to the 1920's. Because the book was being written only 55 years after 1900, t wre still folks living who were able to identify many of the people in the photos. T are early sports teams-- baseball, basketball--community gatherings, church events, family histories and photos, businesses and street scenes of Beckley, Civil War veterans, railroad trains, automobiles, etc. T are also some nice old ducuments reproduced in the pages, like a directory of coal mining companies and coal towns from 1925 that has company officers' names, etc. T is a map that is one piece comprises the inside front cover and the first page--that map is split, but the interior binding is fine and no information is lost. The book has ordinary light wear and soiling. T are no torn, loose or missing pages--the book is sound and the binding is fine. Thanks for looking. I also have the scarce hardback 1957 Land O Hills Beckley area photographic directory on ebay now. These books are lots of fun for Southern West Virginia natives to look at and reminisce. The shipping cost shown is for Priority Mail. This auction ends the 14th. If the buyer pays via Paypal by the 16th, I will mail it Monday the 17th, so it should arrive by *** Christmas ***.
