BELA LUGOSI - COUNT DRACULA - RARE PORTRAIT BUST - MCVEY SCULPT Universal's "Dracula" was released early in 1931, and is considered to be the first true horror film of the talking era. It catapulted its star, Bela Lugosi, into immediate fame, linking the actor for all time with his portrayal of the Transylvanian Count. The King of all vampires is vividly captured here in what is surely the finest and most accurate portrait of the legendary Lugosi as Dracula ever produced. The bust was superbly sculpted by Tony McVey, whose credits include the design of many an otherworldly creature for "Star Wars." Every subtle nuance of Lugosi's Dracula is meticulously rendered in fine detail, with McVey delivering a piece that almost breathes - those hypnotic, piercing eyes, his unholy smile - everything. Beyond the striking portrait, the bust is beautifully designed, with Dracula's slick garments trailing down in fluid motion to a pair of gargoyles, creating a dynamic display of angles and gothic ornamentation. Officially licensed by Lugosi Enterprises, the Dracula tribute bust was released by ArtAttack in 1999 as a limited edition of 100, which sold out quicker than a vampire vanishes. It's flawlessly molded in heavy weight, gray vinyl as one piece, being roughly 1/3 scale, and standing 10" tall on display. Like the legendary Bela himself, read more
