When they started this one, they couldn't decide for sure if it was a basket or vase, so they just let it find its own way, and I think we got the better outcome for it. This spill vase is about three and one-half inches tall, three and one-half inches wide at the opening and two and one-quarter inches in diameter at the base. It is decorated with hand-painted applied blue flowers and their associated greenery. The backstamp is the second green mark, indicating the piece was made between 1955 and 1965. It is in perfect condition, no repairs, chips, cracks or crazing. English chemists and potters took years to develop the fine Parian China originally used during the 1840s in Great Britain to sculpt classical figurines with great translucence. The recipes and technicques were adapted in County Fermanagh alongside the River Erne and today are generally known as "Belleek". It is highly esteemed worldwide. This piece is from Belleek's extensive collection, a pattern over 100 years old that unites basketry and pottery.
