This knife is circa 1980's and was manufactured BEFORE BenchMark was sold to Gerber. BenchMark / Blackie Collins / Michael Collins Engraved Lock-Back Folder Handle is Cocobolo Knife is 7" opened Blade is 3" Blade is satin finished Blade is stamped "BenchMark" in block letters Reverse side is stamped "AD 883" Reverse blade is marked "Blackie Collins" and "Michael Collins" Bolster is brass and is intricately engraved, most likely by Michael Collins but it is not marked with engraver's name. Item is new, unused, never sharpened, however the handle scales show several very minor and shallow scratches from being packaged with other knives at some point. Knife will ship without sheath or original packaging, as this item was purchased only for store display Blackie Collins served as a consultant and designer for BenchMark Knives, Hunting Classics, and Gerber Legendary Blades, while also serving as a member of The Knifemaker's Guild. Michael Collins was also a custom knifemaker and engraver. I am not sure if he was a Guild member. This knife most probably served as a first-run or a design template, although I do not know this to be fact, just conjecture on my part.
