This is a beautiful red glazed vase done at the Weston Priory of Benedictine Monks. This is the place where Brother Thomas Bezanson came in the mid-late 1950's to study and began his career in ceramics. The glaze work and style is so reminiscent of Brother Thomas that I wonder if he it was made by him very early in his career? Mr. Bezanson was from Nova Scotia and finished college in 1950. He moved to the Weston Priory in 1959, but had made visits before then. This is a beautiful vase, gorgeous glaze treatment, and already 60 years old. Mr. Bezanson passed away in 2007. There are many internet sites you can browse to read all about Mr. Bezanson if you are not familiar with his work. Mr. Bezanson's incredible history in ceramics is worth an internet search.
