He is expected to join another station in the San Diego market in January 2010.The Mikey Show previously aired on KSJO in San Jose and KEGL in Dallas, but was let go from both stations.[1] Esparza did the evening slot on KIOZ from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 am from the late 1990s until 2004, broadcasting to both San Jose and Dallas via satellite. His stint in the evening slot ended a week after he started broadcasting the morning drive in early 2004. His show is currently rated number 1 among 18-49 year old males for San Diego's morning shows.The show aired on KIOZ until late December 2009 when it was annouced that Esparza did not resign with the station and would be taking his show to another station later to be named. Also, many of the San Francisco rock stations had long changed to different formats as well. KSJO rode a wave of popularity during the decade due primarily to the appeal of morning personalities Lamont and Tonelli. By 1998, KSJO's signal was simulcast on three other separate stations (located near 92.3 on the dial) around the San Francisco Bay Area: 92.7 KXJO in Alameda/Oakland, 92.7 KMJO in Marina and 92.1 KFJO in Walnut Creek.As the new millennium arrived, KSJO's fortunes started to slide.
