This is an incredible rare and unique 1871 cast iron raisin seeder. Marked Pat'd. Nov. 28 1865 and Pat'd. May 21 1871. Measures 6 1/2" and 4 1/8" wide. Handle turns smoothly and seeder works like a printing press. Handle turns and and the two plates (one has sharp teeth) separate lift up and another part sweeps underneath the plates and the plates go back down. This action pushes the teeth through the raisin and then the plate moves the seeded raisin down the spout. The seeds go through the slotted base underneath. I have never seen a piece like this.
