In this auction we are pleased to offer a Beswick farm animal figurine, model 1363A ford Bull Ch. of Champions (first version of this figure - horns protruding from behind the ear tips). This figure is finished in brown and white gloss with tan coloured hooves and a shaded bluish nose ring and bluish shading on the forehead. This is the first version of this figure (model #1363A) initially issued in 1955. It stands 4 and 1/2 inches (10.8 cm) high. It carries the round "Beswick England" backstamp, the words "Ch. of Champions" and a hand-inscribed number "183" on the belly (see closeup photo). The figure is beautifully done and finely detailed - we've done our best to provide adequate photos so that you may judge the quality of this piece before bidding. We are not Beswick experts, so we will leave more specific dating estimates of this particular piece to you. The 1363A ford Bull figure was first modeled by Arthur Gredington for Beswick and introduced in 1955. Date of discontinuation is unknown. This handsome bovine is in lovely condition overall, but as is often typical on older Beswick figures, it does have fine clean crazing overall; however nothing that detracts from nice presentation or noticeable without very close inspection (Feel free to request additional photos) No staining, cracks, repairs or other damage. With Royal Doulton's decision to cease production under the Beswick stamp, t will be no more! 's an opportunity to add a lovely example of this model to your collection. Beswick, which originally began operation in 1894, was sold to Royal Doulton in 1969 and manufacture of Beswick animals continued under both the Royal Doulton and Beswick stamps. In 2002, Royal Doulton ceased manufacture of all Beswick products. The Beswick factory property at Longton in Staffordshire was sold for redevelopment in 2003.
